Season 2
Season 2 coincided in reality at the beginning of the 2008-09 season. The 20 episodes originally aired on Setanta Sports up to the end of 2008 when we see Jose apparently quit the show! Sven ("It") is back despite the threat or being dropped or rotated as we saw at the end of Season 1. Wayne Rooney (now referred to as "The Boy" which was started by The Big Boss (Abramovic) during Season 1) also returns as do many of the regular callers from the first season.
The Second season also contained several bonus shorts which have also been added at the correct spots - the official number of episodes for the season was 20.
We start with Sven who in reality had become manager/coach of the national team of Mexico at the time and this is reflected in this especially at the start of the season. Talk of Manchester United's Nani sparks another Michael Jackson track getting played ("Thriller") every time his name is mentioned. Other newcomers include Mohamed (at Fulham) and we get a very brief glimpse of Fabio as early as Episode 2 - more of him follows very quickly. Episode 2 also sees the commencement of the "Berba appeal" which carries on into the next episode.

The Special 1 is Back!
Big Money Transfers & The Berba Appeal
Chris Tarrant is heard as Jose and Sven play "Who wants be a Millionaire" to raise money for the Berba Appeal in a very funny sketch in Episode 3. Before Episode 4 aired, there were two special episodes that aired that coincided with England's 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign. These two episodes featured Wayne interviewing the England manager Fabio Capello.
Jose and Sven Play a Gameshow
When Wayne met Fabio (Part 2)
When Wayne met Fabio (Part 1)
The Battle for Berba
The two Fabio interview episodes may not have featured Jose himself but they did establish the Wayne Rooney character to how he remained for all future episodes. Episode 4 ridicules the money invested into Manchester City and has our team acting out a scenario whereby City and United are fighting over Dimitar Berbatov. Capello returns at the end of Episode 4 with a shock revelation regarding his new position related to Jose's show.
Jose is Going Nowhere!
What's going on at Newcastle?
We hear in Episode 5 (Jose is Going Nowhere) "Gene Hackman". This referred to the Chelsea manager of the time Felipe Scolari. Fabio continues his attempted control of the show (or "Denis Wised") by giving Wayne a free role just like he tried to do with England. The Voyeur Hotel notepaper is shown (with tactics) and an alleged Newcastle takeover is revealed by......Dave! Stevie G is heard for the first time behind Rafa's call and is apparently pulling his strings.
Wayne's Late Injury Pull-Out
Jose makes a Shock Revolution
Sir Alex adds Jose's show to his do not talk to any more list. Do added ears make Sven a good replica of The Boy? Or is somebody getting "punked" and if so - who is behind it? The Boy then gets a make-over to replicate and elaborate his real life look at the time - although I never quite remember him having a beard like this one! Mexico's recent defeat to Jamaica is also explained via secret video of Sven! We hear from Joe (Kinnear) and Denis (Wise) from Newcastle and Vinny (Jones) in Los Angeles. "The Great Debate" is set up for the next show.
Ep #9 - The Great Debate
Jose and Fabio finally go at it head to head with a political style debate regarding who should manage "I'm on Setanta Sports". Audience participation includes questions from Dave (from Newcastle), Rafa, Voyeur, Roy Keane and Didier. Ashley Cole gets booed (that could be for a number of reasons!) But who is voting against Jose? |
Jose for President (bonus - short)
Jose and Sven host a Ghoulish Party
During the Great Debate - Tottenham became the but of many of the jokes due to their incredibly poor start to the season. Spurs remained a target heading into the Halloween special with now former manager Juande Ramos now getting mentioned by name. With Sven as a nun, Sir Alex and Roy Keane both as Darth Vader's!, Rafa as Spiderman and Wayne as the Boy Wonder - this would be an interesting party if it were real! We also hear for the very first time the rumours regarding Jose possibly heading to Old Trafford to replace Sir Alex when he chooses to retire. Ironically we then see Puppet Ronnie whom of course would find himself managed at Real Madrid by Jose just a couple of years later.
In another bonus short (above) Jose mimics Ringo Starr's internet message that had just been released (also added above).
The Voyeur Implodes
Rory Delap Gag (Bonus - Short)
Wayne's hair is gone and Jose has finally been announced as the winner of the Great Debate - Capello appears to be gone. Wayne (watching "ET") and Sven (watching "When Harry met Sally") mimic the Sky Soccer team watching the live Saturday games. We then get another short as a fore-runner to the next episode with a short video gag regarding Rory Delap's long throw-ins for Stoke.
Jose accuses The Voyeur of Spying
What is Jose talking about? (Bonus - Short)
Wayne Rooney gives us his Ruud Gullit impression whilst rumours of Jose leaving Inter for Manchester City are highlighted by a Liam Gallagher impression. The Voyeur is accused of spying on Sir Alex hence The Gunners victory over United. What is Jose doing hiding in a laundry basket? Fabio is also seen again but this time in his sole role as England manager and giving orders to The Boy. The short (above right) I must admit to not getting this gag. If we could turn back the clock I am sure I would then get it.
Injured England Players
Who is the Emirates Mole? (Bonus - Short)
Jose makes a silent movie, Puppet Ronnie celebrates his 100th goal for Manchester United and Sven heads for the jungle to meet Ant and Dec and attempts a bush-tucker trial! Jose takes over Fabio's England press conference - but is Wayne sick or injured and what about Stevie G? This really highlighted some of the reasons given by managers for top England players pulling out of internationals.
The Bonus Short sets up the question who are we listening to and what is the problem at Arsenal?

That Meeting with Drogba
Roy Keane Exclusive
Is Jose a Vulcan? Could Didier Drogba be moving to Inter and reuniting with Jose? Jose is hiding in the laundry basket again to avoid the Gene Hackman (Scolari). Prepare yourself for a Rooney rap! The Emirates Mole is revealed as being William Gallas - and not a very good one! The Special Scarf is for sale on eBay and then Jose auctions his own underwear live in the studio. Who will bid and how much will they pay for them?
Roy Keane resigned as manager of Sunderland at the beginning of December 2008. The next episode features "Managers on the Edge"
with Sven making it in at #4 and The Gene Hackman at #3. Rafa calls in to question why he is at #2 as does The Voyeur - naturally at the top of the list. Roy (no longer shown as from Sunderland) then calls in with pops at some of the Sunderland squad at the time. Just do not mention Roy's dog!

Jose interviews Rafa about "The Game"
Sven touts for more work! Bonus - Short
Danny Shittu gets a mention and Sven be replacing Roy Keane at Svenderland? Rafa returns in the studio (once again as Spiderman) and struggles to understand the term "The Game" - neither does The Voyeur! The Gene Hackman rings in! It appears that the opportunity for Sven to go to Sunderland has gone, but in the next bonus short - could he be heading for West Brom?
The Champions League Draw
A "Special" Christmas Message
It's going to be Mr Alex and The Boy against the Special 1 after the Champions League draw. Wayne is in Tokyo for the World Club Championship - but a satellite delay causes problems. Wayne faces Mr Alex's boot for staying out late followed by......watch the video and hear what gets thrown at him next! Meanwhile Dave has had a restraining order put on him by Shola Ameobi! Jose then delivers his own brand of Christmas message. Although this sketch was just a minute and a half long - it was recognised as Episode 18.
Manager of the Year Awards
Jose quits Setanta Post (Season Finale)
To a large extent, the Manager of the Year Awards episode is a series of clips from Season 2. But will Jose win the award and if not what will be the repercussions? We did not need to wait that long to find out with what happened with the consequences revealed in the last episode of Season 2. But will "I'm on Setanta Sports" be back or not?
Out of the Setanta studio, we had one more show highlighting what happened next. Jose delivers a classic line when he states "Not even God himself could convince me to change my mind". At that point he receives his first call from Nelson Mandella and retorts "You're not bad" whilst pointing upwards! I have also added the classic Rafa "facts" rant at Manchester United for reasons that will become clearer when watching both of these final two videos on this page.
On to Season 3 then? Of course but things have changed as we saw right at the end!
